Walk off single by Ramiro Balentina secures spot in 2011-Hoofdklasse for Sparta/Feyenoord

In the bottom of the 9th Ramiro Balentina’s single to center past a drawn-in infield marked the 3rd consecutive win over ADO this week, thus securing a spot in the 2011-Hoofdklasse.

Tim Roodenburg started for Sparta/Feyenoord. He lasted 3 2/3 innings and allowed 7 hits and all 7 runs (6 earned). Rookie reliever Glenn Fasting did not allow a hit over 4.1 innings. He did, however, walk 4 ADO-batters. Sander Klop pitched the 9th to earn the win for Sparta/Feyenoord.
For ADO lefty Martijn Riphagen got the starting nod. He issued 5 walks, struck out 2 and was responsible for 6 earned runs. Jurrian Koks relieved him after 3.1 innings. In the 7th Koks allowed the tying run. Kevin van Nederpelt reached on a throwing error. Rubinet Koko sacrificed him to 2nd and Rutger Veugelers singled in run number 7.
Kevin van Nederpelt opened the bottom of the 9th with a single to right. Jurrian Koks made two consecutive errors on 2nd base on Kevin van Nederpelt. The first one was an errant throw to get a force out at 2nd on Rubinet Koko’s grounder. Next was a failed pick-off. Van Nederpelt wound up at 3rd and Koko at 2nd. Rensver Jansen was intentionally walked to load the bases. It seemed to work as Rutger Veugelers struck out on 3 swings, but Ramiro Balentina’ walk-off single made in 8-7.

ADO will meet Almere Magpies in a best of five series. The winner will play in the 2011-Hoofdklasse, while the loser will play a best of five against the champion of the Overgangsklasse.
